Alexander Álvarez Silvestre is a preeminent professional dancer affiliated with the Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company. He is also a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne’s “Young Creation Award”, recognizing his exceptional talent and contributions to the field of dance.
Alexander was born in the vibrant city of Higüey, Dominican Republic, in 2003, but his childhood was spent in the culturally rich environment of San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the age of 16, he embarked on his journey into the world of dance at the esteemed Centro Danza in San Juan, where his passion for ballet began to flourish.
Seeking to advance his skills, Alexander moved to Texas, United States, to study for a year at the highly regarded Feijóo Ballet School. It was during this pivotal year that he participated in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix, a competitive platform that showcases the talents of young dancers. His exceptional performance earned him a scholarship to continue his ballet training at the renowned Dutch National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, where he honed his technique and artistry, graduating in 2023.
Throughout his studies in Amsterdam, Alexander had the incredible opportunity to perform in "The Sleeping Beauty" with the Dutch National Ballet, a testament to his dedication and talent. Looking ahead to the 2023/2024 season, he joined the Junior Company, where he will continue to develop as an artist and contribute to the world of ballet.
