Courses, Levels, and Requirements
-
Our courses are designed for students who already have a good base and strong foundation relevant to their age/level — beginner/intermediate or advanced (please refer to the minimal requirements to participate). Students should regularly attend classes and/or study at a dance program.
-
Level placements for our programs will be determined based on the submission of dance photographs for both foundational and intermediate levels. During the registration process, participants will have the opportunity to indicate their preferred level. Subsequently, final level assignments will be made and confirmed at the discretion of the Artistic Directors of AOBI.
For applicants seeking admission to the pre-professional/advanced program, it is mandatory to include an audition video in addition to the required photographs. This audition video should adhere to the specified guidelines.
Guidelines for submissions are accessible at the top of the submission pages to ensure that all applicants have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements.
For any requests, don't hesitate to get in touch with info@the-art-of-ballet-intensive.com.

Foundational/Intermediate Program
We understand that dance can be a challenging and rewarding art form, and we want to ensure that all of our dancers feel comfortable and confident in their abilities. For this reason, we recommend that dancers have at least 2 consecutive years of consistent experience and feel at ease completing a full beginner/intermediate-level class without needing to watch a demonstrator. We understand that everyone learns at their own pace, and we want to ensure that you feel comfortable with a somewhat faster pace of our classes. Our goal is to create a supportive and nurturing environment for all of our dancers.
Advanced/Pre-Professional Program
Dancers who are interested in taking pre-professional/advanced level classes should ideally have at least 5 consecutive years of consistent advanced ballet experience. To feel comfortable in such classes, you should be able to complete them without needing to watch a demonstrator and be familiar with fast-paced and more complicated steps. Additionally, you can be affiliated with a pre-professional dance program (MBO/HBO) or dance company.

We invite you to wear what you’re comfortable in. However, we would like you to keep the following in mind:
Avoid wearing any jewelry, accessories, or smartwatches.
Wear your hair in a slick and neat ballet bun of choice.
Please refrain from using body moisturizers, perfume, and oil/gel-based hair products, as these can make the ballet floor dangerously slippery.
Bring warm-ups to keep you warm during breaks.

AOBI’s Summer Program will take place at a private venue situated in the heart of Amsterdam. The venue, located just a 5-minute walk from Leidseplein, offers an ideal setting for dancers to immerse themselves in a captivating and inspiring environment.

Daily lunch and snacks are not provided. We suggest that you plan to bring lunch — there's a small kitchenette equipped with a tiny fridge, water cooker, and microwave. Several restaurants, grocery stores, and cafes are within a 2-minute walk from the studios. The small canteen does have a vending machine.

We would like to inform you that parking near the canals of Amsterdam is extremely limited. Thus, we strongly recommend public transportation when traveling to our downtown studios at Leidseplein. While there are parking garages nearby, it is essential to note that they tend to be rather costly. As such, we would like to encourage all attendees to consider alternative modes of transportation to reduce inconvenience and expenses.
