Soraya Sánchez Lozano was born in Cali, Colombia, and graduated in 1989 with a degree in Art from the Colombian Institute of Classical Ballet (Incolballet). From the very start of her career, she stood out as a dedicated professional, committed to teaching and promoting classical ballet.

After completing her studies, she joined the Cali Ballet Company, where she performed for eight years, rising to the rank of Soloist in her final three years. Her time with the company enriched her artistry, allowing her to master a diverse repertoire and refine her technique.

Since 1992, Soraya has devoted herself to teaching classical ballet and historical dance. In 1998, she moved to the Netherlands, where she built a successful career as a Ballet Teacher at leading dance academies. Throughout her journey, she has studied three major ballet methodologies—Vaganova, the Cuban curriculum, and the American ABT curriculum. Her in-depth research and training led to a specialized diploma, enabling her to blend the strengths of each technique into her teaching. She values adaptability and tailors her approach to bring out the best in every student.

Currently, Soraya is Dance Technique Coordinator and Ballet Teacher at the Lucia Marthas Institute of Performing Arts in Amsterdam, part of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. She teaches secondary school and master’s students in arts and higher education while also organizing workshops and working as a freelancer.

With her extensive experience, passion for dance, and commitment to education, Soraya Sánchez Lozano continues to shape the next generation of dancers, leaving a lasting impact on the world of classical ballet.
