The Art of Ballet Intensive (AOBI) proudly presents a unique opportunity for aspiring dancers and dance lovers. We invite dedicated dancers to join us to deepen their knowledge, elevate their skills, and cultivate their artistic expression in the vibrant cultural tapestry of beautiful Amsterdam.
Our advanced/pre-professional, intermediate, and foundational summer programs are meticulously curated to elevate the proficiency of dedicated dancers, fostering both technical excellence and artistic development. Our programs welcome aspiring pre-professionals as well as recreational dancers. We at AOBI are firmly committed to the principles of inclusivity.
Participants are provided opportunities to train with esteemed master teachers and choreographers hailing from prestigious organizations such as the Prix de Lausanne, Royal Ballet School of England, Dutch National Ballet Academy, and Royal Conservatory in The Hague, to name a few. These luminaries bring unparalleled expertise and a wealth of experience, having performed with leading dance companies, including Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), Ballet Opéra National de Paris, Dutch National Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Rambert Ballet, Harkness Ballet, Scapino Ballet, Berlin Opera Ballet; in Musical Theater on Broadway and international stages; as well as in the entertainment industry in Hollywood, Paris, and beyond.
The Art of Ballet Intensive offers options to participate for two weeks, one week, or a single day. Throughout the course, the daily classes and workshops are accompanied by live music provided by our masterful musicians, creating an inspiring and invigorating atmosphere for AOBI’s immersive programs.
Our captivating workshops take a deep dive into the subject matter. Personalized attention and constructive feedback are given, inspiring each dancer to strive for excellence and fulfill their potential. Additionally, participants will receive level-appropriate comprehensive training in pointe technique, men’s technique, pas de deux, improvisation, and modern dance styles such as Limón technique, character dance, and Broadway theater jazz. Workshops in injury prevention and dance history further enrich AOBI’s well-rounded and inspiring educational curriculum.
At AOBI, we are committed to cultivating a nurturing and supportive environment that brims with opportunities for each dancer. Participants will benefit from personalized coaching, with additional opportunities to book private lessons by appointment. Dancers will have access to exquisite on-site professional photo sessions with Studio Oostrum, under the direction of our artistic directors, to commemorate their transformative experiences and utilize photos for audition submissions.
For our two-week participants, the program culminates with an optional performance in a charming theater in the heart of Amsterdam. This presents them with beautiful opportunities to perform classical ballet variations and repertoire, contemporary and jazz repertoire, as well as original creations by our master teachers and choreographers. This celebration of talent is complemented by a Q&A session with our esteemed guest faculty, providing invaluable insights and career guidance.
Refine your craft and embark on an inspiring and unforgettable journey in the world of dance. We invite you to join us to embrace this chance of a lifetime!
The Art of Ballet Intensive's (AOBI) intermediate summer program is thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of dedicated intermediate-leveled dance lovers (X/F/M).
Our core values of diversity and inclusivity are at the heart of AOBI, and we openly embrace and encourage applications from individuals aged 12* - 80 and above, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation.
At AOBI we guide you every step of the way during both our one-day, six-day, and thirteen-day intensives.
